B.C. Cabinet meets with First Nations

VANCOUVER —     Today marks the fourth annual meeting between the B-C cabinet and First Nations Leaders from across the province — but for the first time, a new premier will be taking part.

Premier John Horgan, Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation Scott Fraser and representatives from the First Nations Leadership Council will be in Vancouver for the day-long conference.

Last year, participants focused on how to implement Aboriginal title across B-C, taking into account the many views on how to achieve that goal in a collaborative and timely way.

One of four foundations sought by Indigenous leaders in 2016 was an immediate move to consent-based decision making, title-based fiscal relations and revenue sharing in all relationships, negotiations and agreements with the provincial government.
