Crown land closed within Rocky Mountain Resource District due to fire risk

CASTLEGAR, B.C. — All Crown land within the Rocky Mountain Resource District is closed to the public due to the extreme fire danger rating.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development says moderate winds forecasted over the next few days has also contributed to the closure.

The closure excluses those

  • Travelling to or from his or her residence, that is not under an evacuation order
  • Using a highway as defined in the Transportation Act
  • Travelling as a person acting in an official capacity
  • Travelling for the purpose of supporting wildfire suppression activities
