Blazers goalie camp begins, Kyle Dumba ready to push

KAMLOOPS — The Blazers opened a three day goaltending camp today ahead of the start of rookie camp on Friday and main camp Sunday.

There are six goaltenders at the mini camp —- three 15 and 16 year old prospects, local hopeful Max Palaga, incumbent Dylan Ferguson and 19-year old newcomer,  but Western Hockey League veteran Kyle Dumba.

Dumba was acquire in a trade with the Calgary Hitmen August 1.

He was in net for Calgary in a game last December that turned into a goaltending dual with Dylan Ferguson.

Dumba says “it was a helluva game, me and Fergie were just talking about, it was really fun to play in.”

Matt made history when he became the first player of Filipino lineage to play in the NHL.

Kyle would like to be the second.
