Kamloops Mountie injured during arrest
KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops RCMP officer is recovering after being injured during an arrest yesterday.
The officer was working in the 400-block of Tranquille Road, arresting a woman for breach of probation when she became violent, punching the Mountie repeatedly in the head.
Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the officer responded by using a conducted energy weapon to subdue the woman, and calling for backup.
Shelkie notes RCMP are recommending some new charges, thanks to the woman’s behaviour.
