KAMLOOPS — Twenty-five teams, five age divisions, 58 games and some busy baseball diamonds.

The Western Canada Minor Baseball Championships are underway at McArthur Island.

It’s the first time all five divisions have been able to play the western championships at one facility.

Kamloops Minor Baseball is fielding three teams.

The bantam 15U AAA RiverDogs began today with a 4-1 win over Alberta’s St. Albert Cardinals.

Alberta opened the scoring in the 4th inning, but the RiverDogs got their offence going in the bottom of the inning, took a 2-1 lead and were on their way to the win.

Nolan Austin picked up the win, leaving in the 7th after hitting his pitch count.

Nik Bradley came in and retired two of the four batters he faced to preserve the win.
