Longtime Kamloops rancher and sportsman passes away

KAMLOOPS — A longtime Kamloops area rancher, businessman, and promoter of rodeo and horse racing has passed away.

Garry Hook, who was 80, died yesterday morning from complications related to Alzheimer's.

A bullrider and bronc rider in his youth, Hook started the original Kamloops Pro Rodeo in the 1960's.

He was well known for raising rodeo stock and racing horses.

Garry Hook was also active in the political arena.

He is survived by his wife Sue, five children, numerous grandchildren and brothers Roger, Rick and Harley.

A celebration of life for Garry Hook will be held at a date and location yet to be announced.
