One driver dead following Trans Canada crash

SAVONA, B.C. — A Cariboo man is dead following a head-on collision on the Trans Canada Highway just east of Savona.

Central Interior Traffic Services Sergeant Mike Pears says the man was travelling eastbound on the highway when the vehicle crossed the center line and collided head on with a westbound car Friday afternoon.

The driver travelling eastbound was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man who was travelling westbound was airlifted to Royal Inland Hospital with undetermined injuires and is from the Savona area.

A collision re-constructionist was on scene Friday as RCMP continue to investigate what led to the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact the Central Interior Traffic Services unit in Kamloops at 250-828-3159.
