KAMLOOPS – And then there were three…

Late Saturday afternoon, Cindy Ross Friedman withdrew her name from the ballot of the upcoming civic by-election, making her announcement via email and Facebook post.

“Up until this morning, I had the full intention to run for your Mayor of Kamloops. My family had a most unfortunate circumstance arise. I do not want to talk much about it yet, but it is health-related and very sad,” Friedman wrote on Facebook, adding “I most regrettably and sadly must withdraw from the race for Mayor. I am so utterly disappointed, but that is just how it has to be. I am so very sorry.”

The move leaves a trio of candidates still vying for the vacant Mayor’s chair: former city councilor Ken Christian, Reo Rocheleau, who ran for council in 2014, and Todd McLeod, who initially planned to run for a council position, but decided to seek the Mayor’s mandate in late July.
