WHITECROFT, B.C. — Fire crews and air support are working on a blaze in the Whitecroft area near Sun Peaks.

Fire Information Officer Justine Hunse says the air tankers have been working the blaze since it first broke out.

"Our air support has been attacking it pretty hard this afternoon. We've had 3 air tankers, 6 skimmers, and 1 helicopter out there," said Hunse.

One initial attack crew is also on scene, but more firefighters are expected to join them shortly.

"No immediate threat to structures right now, however the smoke is visible from the nearby community."

The fire is estimated at 0.7 hectares, and the investigation into how it was caused is ongoing.
