Volunteers needed to help receive evacuee animals

KAMLOOPS — An agency looking after evacuee animals is urgently looking for volunteers as Kamloops begins receiving more evacuees.

Canadian Disaster Animal Response Team (CDART) says it needs shift volunteers who are “horse savvy,” and are also able to handle other farm animals.

The agency is also setting up a 24-hour shelter for smaller pets — dogs, cats and other household pets — and needs shift volunteers to staff that facility.

Even if you aren’t interested in working with animals, the agency says it will need more people to run errands and complete other tasks.
