KAMLOOPS — Police have a pair of alleged thieves in custody, thanks to some sharp-eyed witnesses.

On Monday and Wednesday of this week, police had received reports of residential break-and-enters at two separate south Kamloops homes.

Monday’s break-in took place in Dufferin, between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m., with the Wednesday break-in taking place in Sahali at about 3:00 p.m.

A suspicious vehicle was associated with those crimes, and this morning, officers tracked the vehicle down on Dunbar Drive in Aberdeen.

Two suspects were inside, along with property that is believed to have been stolen during this week’s break-ins.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says a pair of actions helped officers track the suspects down.

“The citizens in the area of the break-and-enters earlier in the week noticed the suspicious vehicle and were able to give a good description to the police. Second, the victims themselves of the break-and-enters supplied a detailed list and description of items that were stolen from their homes,” said Shelkie.

A 32 year old man and a 27 year old woman, both from Kamloops and both known to police, are facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime.
