KAMLOOPS — Unifor has idenified the victim of a fatal workplace accident at the Kamloops Domtar pulp mill as 57 year old Jim MacLeod.

MacLeod was killed after an incident involving a crane last Thursday, June 29.

Unifor National President Jerry Dias issued a news release extending sympathy to MacLeod's family and colleagues.

The release describes MacLeod as a 37 year employee of the local mill, and an active member of Unifor Local 10-B.

The accident also injured Ross Thompson, and the union says he is now recovering at home.

MacLeod's family and colleagues gathered for a flag-lowering ceremony at the mill yesterday.

Worksafe BC and the BC Coroners Service are investigating, and Unifor says it will support the investigation.
