Mounties were called to the scene just before 6:00 a.m., about three kilometres south of the Logan Lake exit.

Investigators believe a southbound vehicle hit a deer, causing it to careen off the highway and into the ditch.

Two of the vehicle's three occupants died at the scene.

The third was rushed to hospital suffering from critical injuries.

According to Drive BC, the southbound Coquihalla was closed for several hours to allow investigators to work, but is back open now.
