Are Olynyk’s days with the Celtics over?

KAMLOOPS — It looks like the Boston Celtics are planning to move on without Kelly Olynyk, to free up salary cap space.

Boston has until tomorrow night to restrict Olynyk, and decide where they’re going.

Once that’s done, if they decide not to sign him, to give him unrestricted free agency by the middle of July.

Olynyk takes up $7.7-million in cap space next season, and the Celtics are rumoured to be looking at two maximum salary cap slots — one for a free agent signing and a potential trade for Indiana star Paul George.

Olynyk was a big bench player for the Celtics last season, and had no bigger game than game seven against Washington in the second round of the NBA playoffs.

He scored 26 points, to match the record for most off the bench in a game seven.

Olynyk is expected to command big dollars if he goes to the open market.
