KAMLOOPS — BC Wildfire Service officials have downgraded the size of the Dew Drop wildfire west of Kamloops.

As of this morning, the blaze is listed at 156 hectares, down from the highest estimate of 260 hectares recorded yesterday.

Fire Information Officer Max Birkner says the change in size is not due to the fire shrinking, but rather a more accurate estimate derived from more precise mapping.

The fire now listed at 50 per cent contained.

69 firefighters are working to bring the blaze under control today.

Delays expected on the Coquihalla for the long weekend
