Okanagan flood concerns recede

VERNON —  Flooded lakes across the Okanagan are slowly receding, leaving muck and mess behind.
Okanagan Lake fell two centimetres between Monday and yesterday but remains 60 centimetres above flood level.
Kalamalka Lake dropped 1.5 centimetres over the same period.
The Central Okanagan Emergency Program says crews are preparing for the Canada Day long weekend and will begin removing some flood barriers along parks and beaches in Kelowna, West Kelowna and Peachland — as long as it’s safe.
