KAMLOOPS — Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for several areas in the BC Interior due to the heat we’re expecting.

Forecaster Alyssa Charbonneau says Kamloops could see temperatures as high as 37 on Sunday, which will likely be the hottest day of this stretch.

Charbonneau says that will approach a record.

“We are expecting that we probably will set some records this weekend over Southern BC. In the Kamloops area, the record for Sunday was 38.3°C, and that was set in 1912. Our forecast of 37°C is a little short of that; we will have to see how it unfolds. There are likely some other areas that may see their records broken on Sunday,”
