Foot chase leads to arrest in Brocklehurst

KAMLOOPS — A 24 year old Kamloops man is in custody after a failed run from police this afternoon.

RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says officers were called to Brocklehurst over the noon hour to investigate something suspicious.

“When the police officer arrived on scene, she saw a male riding a dirt bike, and he was obviously trying to avoid being seen,” said Shelkie.

“The male soon abandoned the dirt bike and he took off running.”

“Other officers came to the area and located the suspect. While the foot chase was on, we received another report stating that the dirt bike he had been riding had been stolen.”

Shelkie says the man is known to police.

When officers searched the man following his arrest, they found a baton and a knife on him.

In addition to the charges of possession of stolen property and resisting arrest, he is also facing a count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
