KAMLOOPS —  Another candidate has surfaced for one of the two council seats up for grabs in an anticipated Kamloops byelection this fall.

Local chiropractor Stephen Karpuk says he will be seeking a seat.

Karpuk says he's long considered running for council, but wanted to make sure his kids were old enough before taking the plunge.

His wife, Kathleen, is currently a school trustee in the District.

Karpuk says he wants to see more transparency at city hall. He says we have to have a clear vision of what we want to do to change the city and move forward.

Karpuk says council needs to do a better job of communicating its plans and goals to the residents.

Karpuk joins former MLA Kevin Krueger and Bill Sarai as announced candidates. It's expected the byelection will be held in late September.
