Water levels continue to drop in Kamloops-Shuswap

KAMLOOPS — There’s no doubt now that water levels are receding substantially in the Kamloops-Shuswap area, and it will take some startling precipitation to bring them back up.

All of the levels in our area- the Thompson River at Kamloops, the Shuswap at Salmon Arm, North Thompson at Barriere, South Thompson at Chase- all continue a significant drop over the past few days.

That doesn’t mean the danger from wave action isn’t still prevalent, especially on the Thompson and in the Shuswap.

Boaters are reminded to exercise caution and slow down near the lakeshore to protect flood protection measures that are still in place. The levels will still be high for a few days yet.
