KAMLOOPS — A storm system moving into the BC Interior is expected to hit the hardest outside of Kamloops.

Forecaster Cindy Yu says Environment Canada has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watches for several regions, including the Shuswap and South Cariboo, but none for the Thompson regions.

“It does look like most of the organized thunderstorms will be to the north and east of us. Having said that, with these potential thunderstorms we can still expect some wind gusts this afternoon. We are looking at southwesterly winds 40 gusting to 60km/h,” explained Yu.

Yu says there may be lightning associated with the storms as well, raising the possibility of wildfire starts.
