KAMLOOPS — The Kootenay Ice are making a coaching change.

The new owners of the Ice announced this morning that Merritt native Luke Pierce won’t be back.

Pierce, the former coach of the Merritt Centennials, coached the Ice for two seasons with a 26-99-19 record, missing the playoffs both years.

In announcing the decision Ice President and General Manager Matt Cockell says “We are committed to a fresh start for the organization and this includes the business and hockey operations.   We feel that this was a necessary decision to accomplish our objective.”
