Boating ban lifted, but TNRD asks lake users to take it slow

KAMLOOPS — Just in time for what is expected to be a summer-like weekend, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District has lifted a power boating restriction on Nicola Lake and Stump Lake.

Emergency Operations Centre Communications Officer Debbie Sell says the lake levels have decreased in recent days.

But Sell says it’s still best that boaters take it easy on those lakes this weekend.

“The lake levels have gone down, which is very good news,” said Sell. “But what we are asking is that if boaters can restrict their speeds to 10 km/h, as well as observe a ‘no tow’ protocol, that will really assist with the flooding.”
