MERRITT, B.C. — The Thompson-Nicola Regional District is banning motorized boating on two area lakes.
Effective immediately, motorized boating is banned on Nicola Lake and Stump Lake due to concerns over the high water levels.
The main concerns expressed are for safety of people due to debris in the water, and damage to lakefront property.
The bans are in place until further notice, and the TNRD says they will be lifted once officials are satisfied the lake levels have dropped enough to minimize the threat of damage.
