MERRITT, B.C. — Flood tensions are slowly easing in Merritt.

The River Forecast Centre has downgraded the Nicola River from a stream flow advisory to a flood watch.

“What this means is the waters are continuing to rise but what crews are doing at this point is they’re more in monitoring mode,” said Debbie Sell, Information Officer with the TNRD. “Crews are currently monitoring the water twice a day they’re also adjusting the inflows and outflows as necessary.”

While water levels remain high Debbie says itsn’t as concerning as it was earlier this week.
