Kamloops first downtown pride parade coming this summer

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Expect a rainbow of colour in downtown Kamloops this summer.

The cities first Pride Parade titled  'Out in the Street' is scheduled to take place August 20th beginning at Riverside Park.

Kamloops Pride President Kirstin McLaughlin says the day is about recognizing members of Kamloops lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in a fun, lively atmosphere.

"It's a day of celebration and visibility," said McLaughlin. "It's about bringing the wider Kamloops community together in acknowledgment and celebration of our community."

The parade will start at 11 a.m. and run down Victoria and Lansdowne Street.

Registration for businesses, teams and community organizations opens in early June.

Individual participants can sign up the day of the event.
