Kamloops Fire Rescue crews made quick work of a fire at a Valleyview motel this morning.

At about 11:35 a.m., multiple people called 911 reporting smoke spewing from the King's Motor Inn on the Trans Canada Highway near Vicars Road.

KFR Assistant Chief Curtis Bossert says the fire began in the attic or roof of one of the units.

"We've opened up a few ceilings in some of the units to access the attic space," said Bossert. "It is kind of a tight squeeze in there, but the guys are doing a good job."

There is no word yet what caused the fire.

Bossert says no one was hurt.

"No injuries at this point. Some of the occupants were allowed to go back in and grab personal items quickly."
