Searchers scour Thompson River for bridge jumper

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Search and Rescue volunteers and RCMP are searching the Thompson River after the report of a person jumping from the Overlanders Bridge this morning.

The emergency call was made around 10:45 a.m., with the witness saying the subject jumped from the southeast side of the bridge.

RCMP, Kamloops Fire Rescue, CP Rail Police and Emergency Health Services personnel responded immediately.

But even with the assistance of the KFR boat, search dogs and a police helicopter, no one was found.
