KAMLOOPS — People can eat pizza for a good cause today.

Papa John’s third annual ‘Dream for Kids Day’ is underway.

All proceeds from the Kamloops North and South shore location goes towards the Sunshine Foundation of Canada.

Every year the organization grants children with various disabilities across Canada with a wish of their choice to brighten their day.

“We took it over when Wendy’s let it go,” said General Manager John Stokes. “When Sunshine were looking for another sponsor, we stepped up. There are programs where kids want to meet the Sedin brothers or Cinderella, anything like that.”

According to Stokes, more than 20 kids in Kamloops have benefitted from the Sunshine Foundation.

Money raised today will also go towards sending B.C kids to Disneyland in 2019.

Last year Papa John’s six Interior locations raised $48-thousand, with the chain hoping to raise $50-thousand this year.

“A lot of places when they do fundraisers it’s a dollar from this a dollar from that,” added Stokes. “Everything that goes into the till today goes toward the charity. As well all staff wages are pooled together and donated to go towards putting kids on a plane to make their wishes comes true.”

Papa John’s two locations are open 11 a.m. to Midnight today.
