KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops has ended its search for a new fire chief within its own ranks.

Acting Kamloops Fire Rescue Chief Mike Adams has been promoted to the role, effective immediately.

Adams has served in the interim role since Dale McLean retired in December.

In a news release, the city says Adams' appointment comes after a two-month, nationwide interview process.

Adams' career has included a stint as deputy fire chief in Squamish and 20 years as a firefighter in North Vancouver.
