KAMLOOPS — Crews spent a few hours putting out a brush fire in Heffley Creek Tuesday afternoon.

Kamloops Fire Rescue Platoon Captain Jeff Bell says the call came in just before 4 p.m. for a three acre fire near the river.

Bell says this fire marks Kamloops Fire Rescue’s first brush fire of the season.

“This is the first one this year for us, but we’re expecting it to be a few more,” Bell said. “With the snow melting there’s a lot of dry grass and debris underneath. It’s something that we always deal with in spring.”
