RCMP arrest man sharpening knife on a Kamloops bus

KAMLOOPS — Passengers on a BC Transit Bus had an uncomfortable ride Monday night. 

Around 7:20 p.m. a 54-year-old man was allegedly sharpening a knife on the bus. 

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the bus driver was threatened when the man was asked to get off the bus. 

“The bus pulled over to a bus stop on Landsdowne Street. Police attended the location and entered the bus, and the suspect was arrested without incident.”

Shelkie says a four inch knife and sharpener were found in the man’s pocket.

The man is previously known to police and is scheduled to appear in court on charges of Posession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public and Uttering Threats today.
