Notre Dame storage facility closed indefinitely following nearby fire

KAMLOOPS — If you need to access the Budget Self Storage facility on Notre Dame Drive this weekend, you’re out of luck.

According to Ben Caron, Manager with Budget Car and Rental,, Friday’s early morning fire at the adjacent Budget Car and Truck Rental, cut the power to the storage unit facility.

Along with power issues, Caron says staff is also trying to sort out how customers can access the buildings 500 units without potentially compromising the investigation site.

On a positive note, the building didn’t suffer any damages from the fire that completely gutted the truck rental building. 

“There was no damage whatsoever to the storage units,” said Kamloops Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Dave McMahon. “”Our crew did a fantastic job of protecting the exposure and ensuring there was no spread of the fire.”
