KAMLOOPS — Tickets for the 21st Y Dream Home Lottery have been selling at a record pace.

Just one week after going on sale, value packs of five tickets for $400 are sold out.

“There were 888 Value Packs and they’re all gone,” said Kamloops YMCA-YWCA CEO Colin Reid. “So, just over 4,000 tickets in Value Packs sold.”

There are only single tickets left in the lottery that boasts a grand prize of a newly constructed home with more than 3,000 sq. ft. of living space.

“I think the fact that we sold out early last year, those people that normally buy tickets missed the opportunity to participate in the lottery and this year they’ve said we’re not going to miss that opportunity, so they’re buying tickets at a faster pace,” Reid said.

The 4-bedroom home, valued at $724,800, is located in Juniper Ridge. It’s a contemporary home with country charm, featuring an open-concept kitchen and dining room, a basement media room and a stunning view.

The master suite contains two walk in closets and a sitting room with a private balcony.

Tickets for the home, and the chance to win one of nearly 400 other prizes, cost $100 each. Ticket sales provide important funding for the Kamloops YMCA-YWCA.

“The charitable dollars go to support a number of things in the Y,” Reid said. “Some regular, very boring type things like the cost to run our buildings, and to fix our buildings, and also to create new programs or support existing programs that serve children and young families.”

The odds of winning a prize in the lottery are one in 29.

“Somebody’s going to win this fabulous home on July the 5th, and the most it’s going to cost them is $100.”
