Blazers burn Rockets 4-1

KAMLOOPS — Lane Bauer led the way with two goals for the Blazers as they beat the Kelowna Rockets 4-1 on home ice Tuesday night. The Blazers trail the Rockets 2-1 in the best-of-seven series with Game 4 in Kamloops on Wednesday night. 

Bauer opened the scoring 8:06 into the first period on an odd man rush. He took a pass from Rudolfs Balcers and scored his first goal of the series. 

The Rockets tied the game up late in the period, as Kole Lind scored his first goal of the series to make it 1-1 through the first period. 

The Blazers broke open the game midway through the second period. The Blazers executed on an odd man rush as Jermaine Loewen scored to make it 2-1 Blazers with 7:50 to go in the period. 

Rudolfs Balcers extended the lead 28 seconds later on a penalty shot. He beat Michael Herringer on the glove side to make it 3-1 Blazers. 

Lane Bauer scored his second of the game late in the period as he beat Herringer high for a 4-1 Blazers lead through two periods.

The Blazers had a real strong third period, as they limited the Rockets chances and outshot them 15-8 to go on to win 4-1. 

The Blazers were 0-for-5 on the power play, while the Rockets finished 0-for-2. Shots were tied 38-38. 

These two teams will meet again on Wednesday night at 7:00pm at the Sandman Centre.
