More lives saved at Ask Wellness overdose prevention sites

KAMLOOPS — It’s a stat Ask Wellness is happy to report.

So far, nine lives have been saved at the society’s overdose prevention sites through the use of naloxone kits.

Hughes says it isn’t just staff contributing to the positive stat.

“The unsung heroes that we’ve failed to fully acknowledge are those who are consuming substances in this way, who are accessing naloxone kits,” said Hughes. “We’ve heard stories of individuals who have revived countless folks in a state of an overdose.”

Naloxone is a safe, effective drug in reversing the effects of fentanyl.
