Truck crashes into Brocklehurst convenience store, injuring clerk

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP have confirmed a clerk at the Brocklehurst 7-11 has been taken to hospital after a pickup truck crashed through the store’s front window this morning.

The incident happened at about 5:30 a.m.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the extent of the clerk’s injuries is not known.

“An employee inside of the store was injured by either the truck or the debris striking her,” said Shelkie.

Shelkie notes it appears the driver of the truck had been trying to pull away from the store, but put the truck into drive instead of reverse.

The 35 year old man was issued a ticket for driving without due care and attention.

“We don’t suspect either alcohol or drugs as the cause of the accident,” said Shelkie.
