KAMLOOPS — We’ll likely find out more today about a hazardous materials incident at the Kamloops Courthouse late yesterday afternoon.

The hazmat team was called out after an apparent altercation between Sheriff’s staff and a prisoner in the area near the unloading bays.

During the incident, it’s believed a narcotic of some sort, possibly an opioid, was released into the air, contaminating several staff and prisoners.

5 or 6 people were taken to hospital for decontamination.
