KAMLOOPS — The man charged in the death of a Kamloops teen last November has been granted release from custody.

41-year-old Jason Gourlay was arrested last Friday after a four month investigation into the hit and run that killed 16-year-old Jennifer Gatey.

He's charged with Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

In court Thursday, a judge granted his release on a $20,000 bail.

Gourlay will have to follow a number of conditions which includes attending an addictions treatment centre. He is also prohibited from operating a motor vehicle.

Gourlay will remain in custody until Friday, due to the late start of his bail hearing Thursday afternoon.
