Council approves support for earlier alcohol serving at Gateway Casino

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Council has supported an application by Gateway Casino to extend their hours for serving alcohol.

But it didn’t happen before some extensive discussion on the pros and cons of mixing gambling and alcohol.

Council voted 4-3 to support the application to the Liquor Control Board to be able to serve alcohol starting at 10:00 AM rather than the current 11:00 AM start.

Councillor Denis Walsh says it’s not a matter of people having the right to drink at any hour of the day, for him it’s a concern about mixing, as he called it “two addictions”.
