2017 B.C. Summer Special Olympics looking for volunteers
KAMLOOPS — Online volunteer registration now open for the 2017 Special Olympics BC Summer Games
Online volunteer registration is now open for the 2017 Special Olympics BC Summer Games, thanks to the form launched by the Kamloops Sports Council. With more than 1,600 athletes with intellectual disabilities and volunteer coaches and mission staff set to converge in Kamloops from July 6 to 8, the 2017 SOBC Games will need over 1,000 volunteers to create an empowering and inspiring experience for the participants from all around the province and the Yukon.
“We know Canada’s Tournament Capital has an incredible community of volunteers, many of whom helped make the 2015 SOBC Winter Games a huge success, and who give their time to SOBC – Kamloops programs year-round. We will be very grateful to any volunteers who can give their time to our Provincial Games this summer,” says Lois McNary, SOBC Vice President, Sport. “We will need everything from trained sport officials and first-aid volunteers to general volunteers who will provide critical support to sport events, meals, accommodations, transportation, security, special events, media, and more. All backgrounds are welcome and everyone’s help will be appreciated by our excited and grateful athletes.”
