Police cruiser t-boned in late night accident

KAMLOOPS —  An RCMP cruiser is pretty much toast but fortunately there were no injuries after the cruiser was t-boned by another vehicle last night in the downtown.

Staff Sergeant Ed Preto says the police car was travelling north on 5th Avenue approaching St. Paul just after 11:00 PM, when a small car heading east came out of an alley without stopping and t-boned the cruiser, smashing into the driver’s door.

Staff Preto says the cruiser was pushed off the road onto the sidewalk.

Roads were icy at the time, but Preto says the car’s driver was determined to have been drinking.

The police car was significantly damaged, but fortunately neither of the drivers was injured.
