LOGAN LAKE —  Officials at Highland Valley Copper still looking to see why one of the pumping barges that recycles water from the reclaim pond at the mine capsized on Friday.

Environment and Community Affairs Superintendent Peter Martell says in a news release the incident happened during a planned shutdown Friday afternoon about 3:00 PM.

There were no injuries and no environmental impact as a result of the incident, and Martell says all other areas of the mine continued to operate as normal.

He says the company is undertaking a thorough review of the situation to determine exactly why the barge capsized.
