Vikes manhandle Wolfpack in Women’s basketball

Kamloops, BC-  The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack opened the 2017 portion of their Canada West season with a rather disappointing result.

They fell to the visiting University of Victoria Vikes 79-66 on the Warner Rentals Court at the Tournament Capital Centre on Friday (Jan 6).

The WolfPack fall to 2-9 while Victoria moves to 5-4 on the year.   The Vikes snapped a two game losing streak while TRU has dropped its last three starts.

The WolfPack were down 29-17 after the first quarter and despite outscoring the Vikes 21-12 in the fourth quarter, couldn’t recover.

 Leading the way offensively for Victoria was Kristy Gallagher (3rd year, guard, Sidney, BC)  with 17 points.  Amira Giannattasio  (3rd year, guard, Hamilton, ON) added 15 points while Nicole Karstein (4thyear, forward, Kamloops, BC)  added 12 points. 

Karstein’s high school teammate at Sa-hali Secondary: Shenise Sigsworth (4th year, forward, Kamloops, BC) led the way for TRU with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

The two teams will play again at the Tournament Capital Centre Saturday night ( Jan 14). Tip off is 5 pm.
