Women’s WolfPack basketball end 2016 with a loss

LANGLEY, B.C. —The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s basketball team will end the 2016 calendar year with a loss.

The WolfPack dropped an exhibition game at Trinity Western University in Langley, BC on Friday (Dec 30).  The score was 89-66 to the Spartans.

TRU trailed Trinity 24-21 after the first quarter and were down by 10: 47-37 at the half.

The WolfPack turned over the ball only 10 times compared to the Spartans 13.

TRU had four players in double figures led by guard Emma Piggin (3rd year, Kamloops, BC). She had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Shenise Sigsworth (4th year, forward, Kamloops, BC) had 14 points with Michelle Bos (3rd year, forward, Surrey, BC) chipping in with 13 points. Chelsey Hoey (2nd year, forward, Parksville, BC) added 11points and six rebounds.

Trinity was led by Tessa Ratzlaff with 28 points. Kayla Gordon added 15 with Jesse Brown adding 10.

TRU returns to play in the Canada West on Friday, January 6, 2017 with the first of four home games in a row. On that night, they entertain the University of Victoria Vikes on the Warner Rentals court at the Tournament Capital Centre. Tip off is 6 pm. It’s the first meeting between the two in league or playoff play since the Vikes took the Pack in three games in the Canada West quarterfinals two years ago.
