KAMLOOPS – The Kamloops Blazers have traded 18-year-old defenseman Dawson Davidson to the Regina Pats in exchange for 18-year-old center Luc Smith.

Smith, who stands at 6’5” and 205lbs, is in his third WHL season with the Regina Pats. This season he has six goals and 11 points in 29 games.

“Luc is a player we have coveted for a long time,” commented General Manager, Stu MacGregor. “He is a big right-shot center that will be able to contribute at both ends of the ice. With the long-term injury to Matt Revel, we felt we needed to add a center.”

The Stony Plain, AB native has played 154 career regular season games in the WHL along with 17 playoff games.

“In acquiring Luc, we had to give up a quality defenseman in Dawson Davidson,” said MacGregor. “We’ve had eight defensemen on our roster all season, and we have a lot of confidence in all seven defensemen we have on our roster. This will allow those young defensemen to continue to develop.”

The Blazers have also recalled 16-year-old forward Brodi Stuart from the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League’s Fraser Valley Thunderbirds.

Stuart is pointless in two regular season games with the Blazers this season. In 19 games with the Thunderbirds, he has nine goals, 11 assists and 20 points.
