KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Councillor Marg Spina says she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

In a Facebook post, Spina says she will be taking a leave of absence from council to begin her battle with the disease.

Spina pledges to put up “the fight of my life,” and says she has the support of her husband, children and grandchildren.

This is the second consecutive term in which a Kamloops councillor has taken a leave of absence to deal with medical issues.
