KAMLOOPS — A man is in custody after a fight with police.

Shortly after midnight Friday night, RCMP received a report that a man was walking near the Tranquille Road area, wearing a t-shirt and waving his arms in the air.

Police located the man near the intersection of Tranquille Road and Clapperton Ave. As they spoke to the man police determined he was under the influence of drugs.

The man, who had a knife, became uncooperative and fought with police until the Police Dog Service was used to subdue him and he was arrested.

The man was treated in hospital and is now in police custody.

He faces charges of resisting arrest and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.

New numbers show 32 overdose deaths in Kamloops so far this year
