KAMLOOPS — Drivers in the Southern Interior are being reassured highway maintenance has improved, following a petition last year.

Merritt Mayor Neil Menard says last year over 2,500 people in the Interior signed a petition calling on the VSA  to provide better snow removal and highway maintenance services on the Coquihalla Highway and the connector to Kelowna.

“I think they heard us last year,” said Menard. “I think they listened to what the group had to say. And if they don’t, we made it very clear to them and to the Minister of Transportation that if they don’t look after the highways better than they did last year, all of that material and those signatures and everything are still there.”
