KAMLOOPS — A 15-year-old female is in hospital after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Wawn and Westsyde Road Friday night.

Kamloops Staff Sergeant Edward Predo says the incident took place just after 5pm.

Initial reports suggest the pedestrian entered the roadway without using the marked crosswalk warning lights

Predo adds she was also wearing dark clothing and it was quite dark at the time of the accident.

The 15-year-old female was transported to Royal Inland Hospital with a serious lower body injury.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.
